The Carmen's Year

The Carmen's year is indeed a busy one.

It opens with a quarterly Installation Court, followed by the Cart Hiring ceremony, which commemorates the ancient tradition of cart hiring in the City, and then a formal meal
The January, April and July Courts also precede such a gathering - January for charity, April with military friends for the presentation of the Carmen's Military Awards while July offers members an opportunity to review activities, meeting in Common Hall
In March every year and, by permission of the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor, there is an annual Banquet at the Mansion House, where the Lord Mayor presents Company awards.

The largest event is the annual Cart Marking ceremony and lunch at Guildhall, which reflects the original goods licensing system, and is a major fund-raising event for the Carmen's Benevolent Trust through a souvenir programme

Masters may arrange special events; from time to time Carmen hold a Ball; every other year there is the Bruce Owen Memorial Golf Day, all to raise funds for Carmen benevolence.
Carmen’s Lectures have been delivered every other year, are currently annual.

The Carmen’s year fosters fellowship, forges friendship and, above all, facilitates
funding for those in need.
