Founded in 1517 the 77th Livery Company of the City of London

Worshipful Company of Carmen

The Three Rs

Recognition, reward and responsibility mark the Company’s reach in the world of education.

Carmen’s charity sends children to Christ’s Hospital – a school they have helped to fund since the sixteenth century (pdf).

Through the system of donation governorship, a pupil is chosen whose family cannot afford to buy the education their child has earned and deserves. The Carmen's Benevolent Trust makes a substantial contribution to that child’s schooling for up to seven years – and provides prizes for others to win.

In 2011 two children are attending Christ’s Hospital, thanks to Carman benevolence and they proudly wear their Carman badge.

The Company also gives sixth formers at King Edward School Witley the chance to stay at school and study  for A levels and university entrance. Three youngsters are there today.

In addition, it funds bursaries and prizes at the City of London Freemen’s School.

Through Carmen, gifted children learn and prosper.
