CART MARKING WEDNESDAY 18 JULY 2018

This year the Carmen were celebrating their 501st anniversary and the annual Cart Marking Ceremony took place in Guildhall Yard commencing at 10.10am on Wednesday 18th July 2018. there were a total of 46 vehicles marked between the Master Carmen, Patrick Marsland-Roberts TD, The Rt.Hon The Lord Mayor of London Alderman Charles Bowman and the Master Glover Alvan Seth-Smith. A selection of pictures from the day's event are shown below. The weather this year was once again wonderful with a mixture of sun and light clouds. After lunch in the Great Hall we had 610 people sitting down to a wonderful lunch. The Master thanked those who had been instrumental in making the event a success including the Chairman of the Cart Marking Panel, Assistant Richard Buswell, and his Committee.

Other significant attendees included the Chief Commoner, John Scott CC, and Carman Sir Peter Hendy CBE. The Royal Logistic Corps were in attendance and officers and soldiers of 19 Tank Transporter Squadron RLC assisted in the running of the event with a number of Police from the City.

At the start of the ceremony the Pikemen and Muskateers from the Honourable Artillery Company formed up and gave a salute to both the Master Carman and Lord Mayor of London.

The first vehicle in was a St John Ambulance and the Master Carmen and Chairman of St John County Priory Group for Greater London signed an affiliation between both Companies.

The Senior Past Master, Clive Birch MBE presented a copy of the Company's updated history book, written by him, to the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Charles Bowman. This was copy 2 of a limited edition print.

An appearance was also made by Major Tim Peake who traded in his rocket for Dell Boy's three wheeler (see picture below).

All pictures from this event are now available in the Members' Area.
