HRH The Princess Royal will join Carmen, members of our affiliated services and guests on Wednesday 23 February 2022 at Plaisterers’ Hall, a breath-taking and sophisticated venue boasting one of the best locations in the City. Elegantly and beautifully finished in neo-classical decor throughout, this venue creates a luxurious atmosphere for enjoying a drinks reception at 6.30pm, before entering the Great Hall with its dazzling chandeliers for a sumptuous dinner. This will be followed by the presentation of our prestigious awards to some of the military’s most outstanding personnel.
We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker will be Rear Admiral Steve Moorhouse OBE, former Captain of HMS Queen Elizabeth. He also commanded, as a Commodore, the recent round the world deployment of a multi national Naval Task Force.
The Royal Marine Association Brass Quintet, will be keeping us entertained during the evening.
The Plaisterers’ Company’s first hall was bequeathed by William Elder, Citizen and Plaisterer, in 1556. It was located at the corner of Adele Street and Philip Lane and was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666. The second hall was built in 1669 to a design of Sir Christopher Wren but this was also destroyed by fire, in 1882. The third hall on the site was destroyed during a bombing raid in the Blitz of 1940.
The venue, set within One London Wall and designed by Foster and Partners, backs on to the remains of the original London Wall which dates back to the 3rd century, when the Romans built it.
The present Plaisterers’ Hall was opened in November 1972 and is finished throughout in the neo-classical style created by Robert Adam in the 18th century. His various designs have been faithfully reproduced in great detail both on plaster and wood, some being taken from his original moulds. Plaisterers’ Hall is one of the largest and one of the finest livery halls in London.
Dress code is black tie or military dress with decorations.
Pour Memoires will be issued. Please contact the Deputy Clerk if you have not received confirmation or a Pour Memoire by Friday 18 February 2022
