With the squadron being heavily involved in current operations in Eastern Europe, 19 Tank Transporter Squadron (The Carmen’s) are absolutely delighted to invite members of the Worshipful Company of Carmen to a training event being held on Salisbury Plain.
Assembling at their home in Ward Barracks, Bulford, this visit reinforces the long-running affiliation between the Squadron and the Company and gives us the opportunity to see how they train their drivers, particularly in handling these mammoth vehicles in off-road conditions.
A basic format of how the day will run is listed below and will be tweaked as we get closer to the visit day (taking in to account any operational restrictions that need to be applied), but the day will allow visitors the opportunity to experience the range of heavy lift vehicles that the squadron uses on a daily basis to support the movement of Defence equipment both in the UK and on international operations and exercises.
Although lunch will be taken on Salisbury Plain the squadron is laying on a formal 3-course lunch (main course is most likely chicken) for us at a cost of £20.00 per person. Please bring cash – no card facilities available.
Transport, if any members wish to come that are travelling by train, a collection can be arranged by the Sqn from Gartley Train Station. Please note that this will be a timed collection due to the time restarts of the day.
Dress – Smart-casual (please take into account that the majority of the day will be outside – fleeces and waterproofs need to be to hand!)
