We are delighted to present a three-part afternoon ‘Transport Talking Aloud’ event for the interest and education of members and extended to outside affiliated organisations.
Commencing at 4.30pm in Carmen’s Hall (and via Zoom for those who are unable to attend in person), our Speakers comprise:-
Louise Cheeseman – recently retired Director of buses for Transport for London and founder of the ‘Women in bus and Coach’ initiative
An ardent advocate of bus for not only taking customers on millions of reliable day-to-day journeys each day but also helping us solve the fundamental environmental challenges of tomorrow including the climate change emergency and air quality.
As the former Director of Bus at Transport for London (TfL), and founder and Chair of the recently launched Women in Bus and Coach, Louise has recognised that the transition of buses away from the grime of conventional diesel to the ultra-clean zero-emission technologies of electric lithium batteries and hydrogen fuel-cells cannot happen without a resource of skilled professionals that not only drive the vehicles’ but also have the skills to track and evaluate performance by artificial intelligence and diagnostic data. There is a recognised resource and skills shortage that she believes could be addressed by creating a working environment within the bus and coach industry that attracts women, as we know that there are less than 20% of women work in the industry.
Leon Daniels, OBE – Senior Warden, renowned Transport Executive, and global authority on mobility.
Possessing an exceptional record of delivery and performance at the highest level of private and public sector organisations, Leon Daniels is recognised for his world-class experience, expertise and knowledge of public sector transport in the UK, Europe and Far East.
With extensive knowledge and experience of traffic and streets management, bus transport, urban rail, cycling, road safety, river operations, the taxi and private hire industry, policing and enforcement, highway engineering and major project delivery, Leon works at the highest level of central and local Government.
Siddy Holloway – Siddy is a presenter of Yesterday Channel’s ‘Secrets of the London Underground’, an author, historian, and actress with a passion for uncovering hidden worlds and telling untold stories.
Siddy has been working for the London Transport Museum since 2015 as the Curator and Engagement Manager for Hidden London and recently become known for presenting Yesterday Channel’s ‘Secrets of the London Underground’.
Through her work with LTM and TfL, Siddy has experienced first-hand how dynamic storytelling and brilliant locations can ignite enthusiasm in transport, and she hopes her continued work in this field will inspire more and more people to look at transport in a new light.
