The Master was delighted at the attendance of the Carmen’s Cart Marking event. It was a great day!
There was a fabulous parade of commercial vehicles through the Guildhall Yard, from pushed carts to electric vehicles. The Cart Marking Panel had done an awesome job! Well done to Vince Dignam and everyone else involved in all of the planning, organising and putting on of this event!
Thank you to Derek Mathewson from Mathewson’s Auctions and Bangers and Cash fame and to Actor and Liveryman Graham Cole, OBE, probably best known for playing Tony Stamp in The Bill for 25 years, their input to the day and that of the film crew videoing the day.
It started with one of the cars from the Royal Mews and finished with vehicles being driven through at the start of their journey to Ukraine.
Donated to Ukraine, they will be filled with supplies of humanitarian aid and after being driven to Ukraine will be left there to assist with their logistics requirements.
Some vehicles that the Master Carman and other Carmen individuals have already sent have been used in the evacuation of people from bombed areas.
We need to do more because they need more!
If you would like to donate to help us send more vehicles, you can go to www.thecarmen.co.uk and on the charity page choose to donate to the Vehicles for Ukraine or click here to be taken straight to it.
The Master & Consort presented The Alfie Hyatt Memorial Trophy for the very first time. This is a trophy that the Master and Consort have bought to honour the life of Alfie Hyatt, the Carmen’s youngest Liveryman who sadly died last year.
The Trophy will be presented by each year’s Master, choosing a vehicle of special interest.
This year’s winner was Liveryman Jimmy Hyatt’s carousel on a horse-drawn carriage. Jimmy is Alfie’s dad and the family were incredibly proud to receive Alfie’s Memorial Trophy. After presenting the Trophy there was a standing ovation from the Master, Consort, Wardens, and everyone present for the vehicle and the family.
Here’s a handful of pictures to view but keep an eye out for announcements when the full set of pictures will be available for you to view and purchase.
