The Carmen are invited to explore the transport treasure trove that is London Transport Museum’s Depot in Acton Town. Behind closed doors, the museum holds over 320,000 historic items that fill the 6000 square meters of storage space. The depot is very occasionally open to the public, so this private event for the Carmen is an exclusive opportunity for you to gain special access to LTM’s vast collection, and tour the space whilst hearing directly from in house experts.

London Transport Museum’s Depot contains many objects, spanning from heritage underground vehicles such as the current restoration project, Q stock, as well as a large collection of vintage buses including the RM1, and many different artworks, posters, maps, signs, engineering drawings, models and so much more. It was first opened in 1999 with the purpose of being accessible for visitors to learn about London Transports history, serving as a warehouse, rail depot and education space.

The nearest tube station is Acton Town. The address is as follows:

2 Museum Way, 118-120 Gunnersbury Ln,Acton,London,W3 9BQ

Please follow the road up the driveway to the blue gate at the top, where you will be let in.

London Transport Museum are excited to welcome the Carmen for this day of exploration, with the time to independently delve into the collection, as well as an opportunity to be guided around the stores that are locked away. If you would like to find out more about the Depot, or take a look at the catalogue, you can visit LTM’s website here.
