Come and join us at what will be a first and unique event for Carmen – our Court Election Lunch and Common Hall held in our very own Carman Hall, where we will meet for drinks and food as well as an opportunity to exercise our democratic right to vote for new Court Assistant/s.
Common Hall is a term used to describe a gathering of Liverymen and often associated with an election.
Members who have been Liverymen for a minimum of three years are eligible to have their name put forward by a proposer and seconder to be considered for election as a Court Assistant.
Speeches are made by those who are standing for election and then in a private and democratic ballot, votes are cast. Afterwards, the votes are counted and the results announced at the event. Those successful will go forward to become Court Assistants and their first meeting will be the one before the installation of the next Master.
In the fine tradition of enjoying fellowship, those Carmen who are able will move on to a local hostelry for further liquid celebrations with the newly elected Court Assistants.
If you don’t want to be left out, then make sure that you register your interest now and you will receive updates about this event.
