Originally a BA pilot, Richard worked in the oil industry, was CE of Exel Europe (now DHL), and of Go Ahead’s aviation division, and chaired the London Ambulance Service for seven years. Until 2019 CO of the engineer and logistics staff corps, during 22 years’ voluntary service, he was also the first UK chairman of the CILT, then International President. He is currently chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, an executive coach and Cranfield University adviser.
His talk will embrace the history of the London Ambulance Service, its extraordinary daily life, under pressure, with limited resources and recruitment issues – good days, bad days and surprising days, of our city’s mobile emergency medical service.
