Click here for further information regarding this year’s change of Master. The Charity Lunch usually held at this time will follow the Court Meeting in July.
Welcome your new Master by watching the historic Installation Ceremony and take part in the Rededication of your Company at St Mary-le-Bow, followed by lunch at Saddlers’ Hall.
Join the procession from Saddlers’ Hall, 40 Gutter Lane, London, EC2V 6BR, headed by the outgoing Master, to St Mary-le-Bow Church, Cheapside, London, EC2V 6AU.
The Bow Bells will be rung at the service. These are probably the most famous in the world and for many years have been woven into the folklore of the City of London, including Dick Whittington hearing them call him back to London to become Lord Mayor in 1392.
Following the Installation and Rededication service, the new Master will lead the procession back to Saddlers’ Hall where you can watch the annual Cart Hiring Ceremony – a unique event where the Master hires his vehicle for the year.
This year’s vehicle, ‘Primrose’, is a 1924 Bullnose Morris Cowley ‘Traveller’s Van’ and has taken part in several Cart Marking events. It was originally purchased by Grant Bros of Croydon, who are connected to the Bishop Family, who will kindly provide the car for this day. It is the only one left of several hundred built and is virtually original except for a repaint about 30 years ago.
Finally, join the new Master, Wardens and fellow Carmen for a reception and lunch at Saddlers’ Hall. Our Guest Speaker this year is Anthony Gahan who is a close friend of the Master-Elect and has known him for over 30 years.
