Visit Silverstone on Friday 19 May 2023. The former wartime airfield is Britain’s most important motor racing circuit and is best known as the home of the British Grand Prix, which was first staged there in 1948.
The Master has secured a day at the Silverstone Interactive Museum. Arriving at 10.00am to welcome tea and coffee, Rob Jaina, the Head of Learning and Engagement, will then give a short welcome speech.
From 10.15am, the group will be split into two with one Group taking the self-guided museum tour with the Heritage Track Trail.
The Museum is packed full of interactive shows, hands-on displays and unique cars and racing memorabilia. On the outdoor Heritage Track Trail, you can see and learn about the current circuit and even walk on part of the original grand prix circuit from Bridge Corner to Priory. On the trail, you will learn about Bridge Corner, Priory, Wellington Straight, Brooklands, Luffield and the RAF Memorial with each panel having memorable stories of facing events and major changes at each corner, including pinpointing the location of Silverstone’s original pits.
The other group will take the Perimeter Circuit Tour. Rob Jaina will join us on the coach and provide commentary.
A buffet lunch will be served at 12.00pm, after which the two groups will swap and take the Museum or Perimeter Tour before returning to refreshments.
There will then be an opportunity to take part in racing themed activities, including simulators (where you can drive your choice of open and closed wheel cars round Silverstone), BATAK Pro (a piece of equipment specifically designed to improve reaction, hand eye co-ordination and stamina enabling sportsmen and women to train under simulated ‘sports like’ conditions, whilst also providing an element of fun and competition) and the Silverstone Scalextric (a detailed depiction of the famous circuit, allowing visitors of all ages to race against each other on the 25 metre long two-lane model track).
The cost is £95 per person. Places are booked on a first come first served basis and payment is required to reserve your place(s). The deadline date for booking is Friday 12 May 2023.
Please contact the Deputy Clerk if you have not received confirmation or a ticket by Tuesday 16 May 2023.
