The formal opening of Carmen’s Hall has been arranged for a lunchtime, when Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, and Past Master Carman, will uncover a commemorative plaque during a special Thanksgiving Service at the neighbouring Church of St Dunstan in the West in Fleet Street, formally opening our new home and reinforcing its educational mission.
The Princess will be formally welcomed to Carmen’s Hall by the Lord Mayor and the Master before visiting the Hall herself and meeting members of the Court, charity trustees and major donors.
Shortly after that, the Princess will join Carmen and their partners in the Church for the Dedication and Celebration of the Company’s new home.
The Service will be led by the Hon Chaplain, Rev Canon Huw Mosford, with Carmen Singers, Christ’s Hospital musicians, and Guild Vicar Father James Wilkinson
After a Petition for the Blessing and Dedication of Carmen’s Hall, Her Royal Highness will uncover the commemorative plaque, for permanent display in the Hall.
The Service will be followed by food and drinks in the Church, and a possible opportunity for groups of members to view the Gallery and the Museum.
All members and their partners will be welcome to the Service and to the celebration afterwards, for which there will be a refreshment charge of £65 per person (including VAT).
For security reasons, tickets will be issued, colour-coded for those meeting in the Hall beforehand, and for members’ later entry to the Church.
The dress code is Lounge Suits.
Please contact the Deputy Clerk if you have not received confirmation or a ticket by Thursday 11 May 2023. Payment is required to reserve your place(s). The deadline date for booking is Friday 5 May 2023.
