The smooth running and enjoyment of those attending Cart Marking every year rely on the contribution of a number of volunteer marshals and stewards.
Marshals help co-ordinate the parade entries in the streets around the Guildhall to ensure they arrive in Guildhall Yard in the right order at the right time.
Stewards direct guests or the public, sell programmes and help ensure that everything works smoothly in the formal guest seating area and in the areas open to the wider public within the Yard.
These roles are fun and give you a chance to get up close to the vehicles entered in the ceremony and meet those who are bringing them as well as guests and the wider public. Those of us who have been involved in previous years have found it hugely enjoyable. It is a great way to make a contribution to the Company.
We are looking for more volunteer marshals and stewards for this year’s Cart Marking event.
You would need to be at Guildhall by 9.00/9.30am on the day of Cart Marking.
You will get clear instructions and plenty of support from ‘old hands’. A glass or two of fizz will await you at the end of the ceremony, together with the gratitude of the Master, the Cart Marking Panel and the whole Company. You will be finished in plenty of time to join the luncheon.
If you are willing to be a volunteer, or want to find out a bit more about it before deciding, please fill in the form below, or email us with your contact details at cartmarking@thecarmen.co.uk
