A highlight of David Pugsley’s year as Master Carman will be a sumptuous charity ball, on Saturday 11 May, held in one of the City of London’s most select venues of Middle Temple Hall, dating back to 1570 and home of one of the four Inns of Court.
The evening will start at 6pm with a reception in the beautiful private gardens stretching down to the Thames, followed by a delicious three-course dinner in the fabulous hammerbeam roofed Hall constructed during the reign of Elizabeth I. After dinner there will be dancing to a live 6-piece band, a bar, cheeseboard, auction and other entertainments. Carriages just after midnight. Dress: Black Tie, ladies – cocktail or long.
As well as a providing a memorable evening of fun and enjoyment, the Ball will be raising money for the Master’s two charities. The Carmen Benevolent Trust supports education, transport and logistics, and the relief of those in need. The Carmen Heritage Trust runs our Hall and delivers transport education for public benefit.
Tickets will be issued and are £225 per person. After dinner tickets, for arrival from 9.30pm and including one free drink, are also available for £75 per person. Please contact the Deputy Clerk if you have not received confirmation or a ticket by Wednesday 8 May 2024. Payment is required to reserve your place(s). Unfortunately, a refund cannot be given after Friday 3 May 2024 except in exceptional circumstances.

Direct Debits (from Carmen only) will be taken on Wednesday 1 May 2024. BACS payments should be made with the reference [surname/CB] to Bank – Nat West Bank / Account Name – The Worshipful Company of Carmen / Sort Code – 60-05-11 / Account Number – 88411915. Cheques will also be received and should be made payable to The Worshipful Company of Carmen.
Please note, photographs will be taken at the event. These will only be sent to those attending the event. If you (or your guests) do not wish to be included in any photos, please let the Deputy Clerk know.
As well as coming to the Ball, you can also support the charitable fundraising from the Ball through sponsorship or donating an auction prize.
Sponsorship is a wonderful opportunity to highlight your organisation to an elite audience of around 300 Carmen and their guests from across the transport and logistics industry nationally and internationally, as well as from across the City of London Livery Companies and more widely. And if you don’t see something that meets your interests, please speak to us to see if we can craft something that will.
