The election of the Lord Mayor of the City of London is a longstanding civic tradition in which the Lord Mayor is chosen annually from among the City’s Aldermen, all of whom must previously have served as a Sheriff of the City. The election takes place at Common Hall on Michaelmas Day (29 September), where members of the City’s Livery Companies vote on eligible candidates. All Liverymen are welcome to attend the ceremony and afterwards we will have lunch at the Farmers and Fletchers Hall.
