THIS EVENT HAS NOW CLOSED. The Lord Mayor’s Show is the oldest, longest, best loved and least-rehearsed civic procession in the world. The 2025 Show will set off from Mansion House at 11am. The 697th Lord Mayor of London will be Dame Susan Langley DBE, previously of the Aldgate ward. She is only the third woman to hold the post in over 800 years, and the first ever to be titled the ‘Lady Mayor of London’.
The Show dates back to the early 13th century, when a desperate King John granted that the City of London could appoint its own Mayor. He insisted that each newly-elected Mayor must come upriver to distant Westminster and swear loyalty to the Crown. The Mayors, and later the Lord Mayors of London have been making that journey for over 800 years. Around them grew up the noisy, colourful, joyous procession that over the centuries became known as the Lord Mayor’s Show. The modern-day show is a direct descendent of those early processions. The Lord Mayor uses a coach which is over 250 years of age, the costumes have been worn in the procession for hundreds of years and the ancient guilds and livery companies play the same role in the procession today that they did in the medieval period.
As last year, the Master will join the Senior Livery Companies Float.
The Hall will be open from 10.15am to 11.00am for coffee, tea and biscuits and then will close until 12.30 pm. A two-course buffet lunch will be served with a glass of wine in the Hall from 12.30 pm and the Hall will close at 2.45 pm. A pay-bar will be in operation after the initial inclusive drink. A close-up magician will be performing throughout the lunch and will entertain the children (and adults!) with a show at around 1.30 pm.
A raffle to raise money for the Stationers’ Foundation will also be in operation and will be called at the end of the lunch.
It is an informal occasion and fun for all the family, so there is no dress code!
The cost is £55 for adults and £30 for children under 14. Under 3’s are free. Payment is required to confirm your place(s). Direct Debits will be taken around Monday 27 October 2025.
The closing date for booking is Friday 31 October 2025. Please either complete the form below, the attached form or email the Deputy Clerk.
